Richard O'Brien

Richard O'Brien is the author of 'Women Presidents and Prime Ministers' (Double Bridge Publishing 2017) and is a human rights early warning expert with 15 years of practical and university teaching experience in this field. The former Director and Founder of the Center for the Prevention of Genocide, O'Brien has testified and presented in U.S Congressional Sub-Committee, the U.S State Department, U.S AID, the United Nations and on national TV and NPR radio. His peer-reviewed 370 page book as a Visiting Scholar at the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (S-CAR), G.M.U 'In Case of Genocide - Break Glass' received praise from renowned genocide scholar Israel Charny as 'groundbreaking.' and 'one of the most advanced early warning methodologies in the world.' He currently sits on the S-CAR Advisory Board and has served a former Board Member of Humanity Working to End Genocide and Feeding Empty Little Tummies. His specific areas of expertise include: Sudan, South Sudan, D.R. Congo, C.A.R, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, D.R Congo, Indonesia, Colombia, Chechnya, Gujarat, India, North Korea, human rights, democracy-building and conflict. He recently administered a Georgetown University Foreign Policy Immersion program and is a graduate of Georgetown University, American University and Culver Military Academy. He is a native of Florida, a chess, hockey and football enthusiast and resides in Gaithersburg, MD with his family.
