SUMMARY:REGISTRATION EXTENDED: “Peace Corps is Gold” ProfDev Happy Hour
LOCATION:1 Dupont Circle Northwest Washington\, DC 20036
DESCRIPTION:http://rpcvw.org/ViewEvent.ashx?eventId=568971\n\n Note: Group discussions have been filled\, but if you register for the standard Happy Hour\, we will treat it as a wait list in case people don't show\, which is likely. Go ahead and register for the Happy Hour! \n "Oh you did Peace Corps? I heard its like summer camp. It's nice that you volunteered\, but what are your real skills?" \n Sound familiar? As RPCVs\, we all have heard similar responses when applying for jobs. Winning over skeptical employers that our skills are useful and transferrable can often be a tough sell. \n Thank goodness we have friends like Jamie Nishi\, Director of Member Services at Devex\, who is surprised by this. \n In International Development\, the Peace Corps experience is Gold. Jamie and her colleagues will join us for our next Social-Professional Development Happy Hour to help RPCVs work on talking up their PC skills. \n “Peace Corps is Gold” ProfDev Happy Hour November 1\, 6:00 pm @James Hobans off Dupont Circle \n At this happy hour we will break into group discussions. Each group will be divided by technical sector. \n There will be three groups\, one for each Devex representative. \n Limit 7 people per group. \n Please RSVP for the event on our website Indicate your Peace Corps specialty on the drop down menu. Bring your resume and questions. \n See you there\, Mariko and Arvis Social and ProfDev Directors \n
