Celebrate Earth Day on the National Mall - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Peace
Corps is working on a number of fronts to commemorate the 40th
anniversary of Earth Day (and Earth Month) - both here at home and in
our 76 host countries. Throughout April, Peace Corps will be sharing
highlights from the Peace Corps Digital Library on our social media
pages to inform our fans about the environmental work of our Volunteers
around the world.
On Sunday, April 25th, Peace
Corps Director Aaron S. Williams will be speaking on the National Mall
at one of the largest Earth Day events in history being organized by
the Earth Day Network.
Volunteers are needed to help
manage this massive event. All volunteers will get a free shirt and a
prime spot to watch the headliner concert 5-7:00 p.m. in a special
viewing area.
Sign up today to volunteer for this exciting event by emailing communications@peacecorps.gov.
Please include "Earth Day Volunteer" in the subject line, and specify
which of the teams and shifts listed below work for you. After you
register, you will receive a follow-up message from us with further
event details.
Volunteers are needed for various tasks and shifts
- LOAD-IN/LOAD-OUT volunteers work early in the morning or in the
late evening to help prepare for the day's activities and breakdown
from the previous one.
- The STREET TEAM will be stationed at Metro stations and other busy
corners to direct people to the events and activities.
- EVENT MARSHALS will be resources for information and act as our eyes and ears on the event grounds.
- The GREEN TEAM will roam the National Mall and make sure we leave it as clean as when we found it.
