Join us for an afternoon of gift wrapping and put a smile on someone's face.
Each month, We Are Family serves over 600 seniors in the Shaw, North Capitol Street, Adams-Morgan, Petworth, and Columbia Heights neighborhoods. We bring advocacy, services, organizing, and companionship into the homes of the elderly, while helping to build friendships across boundaries like race, class, religion, age, culture, and sexual orientation.WHENDecember 21, 2014 at 2pmWHEREMetro Community Church

Philippa Wood was a Healthy Homes Peace Corps Volunteer in rural Guatemala from 2009-2011. Originally from Connecticut, she attended the George Washington University for her undergraduate degree and the Institute for Development Studies at the University of Sussex for her Masters degree in the United Kingdom. Philippa is currently a Program Officer as the National Democratic Institute, working on Political Party programming, with a regional focus on Asia, Eurasia, and Latin America and the Caribbean. She has been back in DC for almost two years and enjoys everything the city has to offer, from bars, parks, restaurants, museums, to the river and the Virginia wine country.
Philippa has lived in DC for a total six (non-consecutive) years. She loves socializing in the city, trying out new bars and meeting new people. In the past year, she has attended almost every social event with RPCV/W and has loved meeting so many wonderful returned peace corps volunteers, both newly back and those who have been back for decades. She is passionate about the returned peace corps volunteer community and hope to give back to it by serving on the board.
