RPCV/W 2013 Board Retreat

Next weekend, August 16-18, we’ll be headed to the Chesapeake Bay for the RPCVW Annual Board Retreat!  We’ll be staying at The Fox Hat home in St. Leonard, MD, a little over an hour from Washington, D.C

As we finalize the details of the agenda, there are a few logistical requests I’d like to address now. We need volunteer drivers (we reimburse for mileage based on the federal standard).  If you can drive next weekend, please respond to me with how many people you can take and where and when you would like to leave from.  Ideally, we’ll have people leaving from different locations throughout the city.   There are a total of 11 people confirmed, so assuming four to a car, we’ll need three volunteers 

Once we have drivers, leaving times and locations confirmed, I will disseminate that information so people can claim seats in cars

In the meantime, here's a bit more information about what there is to do where we'll be staying: 

Within Long Beach community

·         Enjoy the mile long beach-swimming, sunbathing, hunting for shark teeth, etc.

·         Bonfires on beach at night – no permit required

·         Volleyball/horseshoes/picnic tables at beach

·         Fishing off the jetty or beach

·         Enjoy our private pub equipped with refrigerator, Cable TV, air conditioning/heater

Local attractions - (5 minutes away in St. Leonard)

·         The Tavern Pub – no food but plenty of pool tables and big screen TV’s & micro brews

·         St. Leonard Flea Market and Antiques – Live auctions every Friday night at 6:00 pm

·         Post Office

·         Adam’s Ribs – the best (Rt. 4 North on Right)

·         VERA’s Restaurant (Rt. 4 South, turn right at sign)-Call to make sure they are open – Awesome waterfront views and good food/drink.

·         Stoney’s Restaurant on Broomes Island – Awesome waterfront dining and views and great food/drink!

Solomon’s Island (20 minutes - Rt. 4 South)
