Volunteers Needed for 2017 Black and White Gala

Volunteer to help make our 2017 Gala and Silent Auction a success! This year's event will be on Saturday, December 2nd. Read on to see how you can get involved.

The Gala and Silent Auction is RPCV/W’s largest annual event. Ticket sales cover the cost of the event and funds raised from sponsorships, the silent auction, and our new wine ring toss activity go towards our Partnership for Peace (P4P), Upwardly Global, and RPCV/W’s endowment.

The board has committed to raising $10,000 a year for the next five years towards the future fiscal sustainability and success of our organization – our endowment. Our ultimate goal is to raise $100,000 and eliminate membership dues.

You can help us reach support our Partnership for Peace and our endowment by soliciting sponsors and in-kind donors.

  1. Underwriting: We have opportunities available at $250, $500, $750, and $2,500. If you have relationships with businesses that rely on individuals, please consider reaching out to them for underwriting opportunities. We currently have a tax accountant, realtor, mortgage broker, and gym. Other potential sponsor might be doctors, law firms, dentists, small businesses, etc.
  2. Wine Donations: We have 18 bottles of wine donated for the wine toss with a goal of 30 bottles to make it a successful activity. You can donate a bottle that’s been sitting around your kitchen for a while or reach out to your local grocery/wine/liquor store and see if they’ll donate a bottle or gift card to purchase a couple of bottles. 
  3. Silent Auction Items: We have 21 silent auction items donated with a goal of 50 items. This can be from your favorite restaurant/bar, your local salon, or a one of a kind experience or service. Think outside the box! (e.g. resume writing, interview preparation, pet sitting, babysitting, French/Spanish tutoring, are all services that our members use!)

It only takes a couple of minutes to send an email to businesses requesting donations or a couple of hours to visit local restaurants/bars/stores with our pre-prepared donation materials. Encourage donors to fill out our online silent auction or wine donation form! For more information, please email [email protected].

We would not be able to make this event a success without day of event volunteers. Shifts run from 5:00 – 11:00 pm on Saturday, December 2nd. Our primary needs are for

  • set-up
  • registration
  • coat check
  • silent auction
  • wine ring toss
  • break down
