Virginia Lehner graduated from the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at University of Arkansas with degrees in International Relations and European Studies as well as a minor in Spanish. She joined the Peace Corps and served in the Highlands of Peru for 27 months working with local counterparts to bring sustainability to various projects throughout the region. Upon completion she joined the U.S. Department of State as a Passport Specialist at the Washington Passport Agency. Currently, Virginia serves as a Country Officer in the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Office of American Citizens Services and Crisis Management. In her current capacity, Virginia provides policy guidance to a number of U.S. embassies and consulates on how to assist U.S. citizens traveling or residing overseas, including but not limited to: citizenship acquisition, crisis contingency planning, security threat assessments, and response coordination to both natural and man-made disasters.
