From the event website: Babusya's Kitchen Summer 2024 Benefit Dinner
Please join us on Friday, July 12 to enjoy traditional Ukrainian food and support the Babusya's Kitchen cookbook and the RPCV Alliance for Ukraine!
Time: Friday, July 12, from 6:30pm-9:00pm
Place: The fourth floor of St. Thomas' Parish
1517 18th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20036
The church is a short walk from the Dupont Circle Metro Station. There is also a nearby parking garage at 11 Dupont Cir NW, with a $13 evening rate.
The event will feature traditional Ukrainian dishes from Capitol Hill's own Ruta - a Ukrainian restaurant that opened in 2023. Attendees will be able to purchase discounted copies of Babusya's Kitchen, a collection of Ukrainian recipes gathered by Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) and featuring stories about their experiences in Ukraine. The cookbook can be purchased either in advance with your dinner ticket or at the event in person. Book sales and event proceeds all go to fund community-based grants in Ukraine.
The RPCV Alliance for Ukraine launched the Peremoha (Victory) Mini-Grant Program in 2022, relying on the network of connections maintained between Returned Peace Corps Ukraine Volunteers and their host communities. Funded largely by sales of Babusya's Kitchen, the Alliance has awarded nearly $80,000 to 60 projects across Ukraine, with more grants planned in 2024. We hope you can join us to support this ongoing work in Ukrainian communities and to celebrate Ukrainian cuisine and culture!
