    Join us for the RPCV/W November Happy Hour @ The Thirsty Crow starting at 5:30pm. Thirsty Crow is a seven (7) minute walk from the Columbia Heights Metro Station. Please look for the Peace Corps Flag. Bring a used name tag if you've got one! Recycle, Reduce, REUSE! :) Hope to see you there!

    Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, RPCV/W will host three types of events: events open to all participants, events open to fully vaccinated participants, and virtual events, in addition to abiding by CDC recommendations and guidelines. If you are not vaccinated due to medical or religious reasons, we welcome you to continue to attend our virtual events. If you've recently been exposed, please follow CDC and local guidelines.     Capital Area Food Bank

    Hey everyone,

    Please sign up for December's volunteer opportunity with the Capital Area Food Bank. We are going to try and volunteer with CAFB monthly.

     

    When: December 1st (Thursday) from 5:30pm-8pm

    Where: Capital Area Food Bank (near the Fort Totten Metro stop). There is parking and a bike rack for volunteers available on site

     

    1.CAFB's rules is that you must be VACCINATED and wear a MASK the whole time (https://volunteer.capitalareafoodbank.org/)

    2. You only have to RSVP with us; we have arranged a group.

    3. If you can't make it, we understand, but please remove you RSVP so others can sign up at least a week in advance.

    RSVP Limit

    Let's go Ice Skating at the Sculpture Park at the National Gallery of Art on the Mall. We will meet at the rink at 7:30 and start skating @ 8pm. Look for the PC Flag. If people are down we will end the night at a bar nearby (most likely Penn Quarter Sports Tavern) for a night cap

    Admission fees 
    Fees cover two consecutive, 45-minute skating sessions that each begin on the hour, leaving a 15-minute break for ice maintenance. $12: Ages 13+

    Rental fees

    • $6: Skate rental
    • $1: Locker rental

    Let's meet for the 30th Anniversary of the District's Holiday Boat Parade. Celebrate the holidays with this iconic DC event that features over sixty beautifully decorated boats parading along the Washington Channel. We will meet at the Wharf in SE DC. The exact location will be decided two weeks prior to the event and the event will be updated and an email sent to all participants.     Let's celebrate the holidays with an RPCV/W HOLIDAY PARTY: Ugly Sweater & Cookie exchange at our friend RPCV/W Nora's House in the Petworth neighborhood of NW DC. Come with an epic ugly sweater and bring some cookies for the cookie exchange. Hors d'oeuvres will be served. BYOB. We will send a follow-up email on Monday, 12/5 to all paid RSVPs with additional information and the address. Hope to see you there!  

    The cost to attend is $14. Payment Instructions:

    1. Please specify the number of tickets you would like to purchase at the bottom of this page.

    2. "Click on" the PURCHASE TICKETS button which will direct you to the RPCV/W Donation Page.

    Ticket Required RSVP Limit

    Let's go stay in a big cabin (more like a mansion in the woods) in the Shenandoah Valley for MLK Weekend. We will relax by the fireplace, enjoy the hot tub/pool table, roast marshmallows by night and by day we will go snowshoeing, winter hiking, skiing, head to the local brewery or whatever we choose to do. We will leave Friday night MLK weekend and come back Monday, MLK Day. Our RSVP limit is 12 including myself. If we cannot fill the trip by 12/20 the trip will be cancelled and your money refunded. Additional details:

    1. Serious RSVPs only.
    2. There are four bedrooms with different sleeping options and they have all been prorated. See ticket information below. 
    3. All pricing includes Saturday/Sunday Dinner as well as Saturday/Sunday/Monday breakfast.
    4. Pricing does not include:
      1. Friday Dinner
      2. BYOB
      3. snacks
      4. lunches
      5. transportation costs
      6. firewood
    5. Once you RSVP I will contact you directly to fill out an info form so we can track sleeping arrangements as well as coordinate cars for transportation and firewood. 
    6. The first week of 2023 we will further coordinate gear to bring, transportation, etc. 
    7. If you RSVP and change your plans please let me know ASAP and we can make arrangements to find someone to replace you. 

    Payment Instructions:

    1. Please choose your sleeping option. Please read description. 

      1. If you choose a Queen Bed or Queen Bunk Bed w/+1 additional person. For example if you are two people choosing private room w/Queen Bed  then select the 1-ticket for Queen Bed ($300) + 1 Additional Person ($100) which will total $400. 
    2. "Click on" the PURCHASE TICKETS button which will direct you to the RPCV/W Donation Page.
