ABOUT

RPCV/W (Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Washington DC) is an organization for Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and our community members to convene and connect through social events, professional development activities and community service opportunities to give back to the DMV. Our organization is passionate about supporting our members' and our community's needs to address white saviorism, disparities, and other systemic issues that are holding us back from a better world. We hope to provide a network of resources and support for our members as we continue serving in our careers and through cross-cultural experiences.

OUR MISSION

The Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Washington DC (RPCV/W) fosters an inclusive network for members to connect through social, professional, and service opportunities. We build upon the skills and experiences of RPCVs to serve our communities and promote a deeper understanding of our world and its cultures.

VISION

We envision a world in which all people are respected, valued, and treated with dignity and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers’ knowledge, skills, and perspectives are recognized and utilized for positive change in the Nation’s Capital and beyond.

    "20 Days in Mariupol" ($15)Fri, Jun 16th, 3:00 PM @ Eaton Cinema, 94 minutes

An AP team of Ukrainian journalists trapped in the besieged city of Mariupol struggle to continue their work documenting atrocities of the Russian invasion. As the only international reporters who remain in the city, they capture what later become defining images of the war. With nearly a decade of experience covering international conflicts for The Associated Press, 20 Days in Mariupol is Mstyslav Chernov’s first feature film. The film draws on Chernov’s daily news dispatches and personal footage of his own country at war. It offers a vivid, harrowing account of civilians caught in the siege, as well as a window into what it’s like to report from a conflict zone, and the impact of such journalism around the globe.

"DC/FRAME Lost & Found" (FREE): Friday, June 16, 2023 5:30 PM EDT. Bring Them Home: 32 min; Park Regent: 22 min; Finding Us: 13 min

Three short films that explore the profound impact of losing one's home and the journey to find one’s way back. This program introduces individuals and communities grappling with the loss of home, whether it be through the harrowing experience a family fighting for the return of a beloved father and husband who has been taken hostage, the new discovery of shared ancestry among enslaved people, or the impacts of gentrification on a building and neighborhood.
