As a TEFL volunteer in Western Ukraine from 2010-2012, Janira was involved in a number of educational projects, including directly working with the Ministry of Education in developing the National English Olympiad test. She was a member of the Multi-cultural Awareness council working group where she contributed lesson plans on diversity in American culture and helped integrate multicultural awareness in youth summer camps throughout Ukraine. On a regional level, Janira designed and implemented teacher trainings for Ukrainian English teachers of primary and secondary levels, as well as a journalism training for youth interested in participating in the recently established Bilingual student newspaper.

With an MA in Education, Gender and International Development from the University of London, Janira continues to work in international education. Her volunteerism in education and cultural awareness continues within various organizations- Sigma Lambda Gamma Education Foundation, World Learning and Atlas Corps.
