LaVera is native Texan and she is passionate about philanthropy and engaging in strategies to decrease poverty in the world. Currently, LaVera lives in Newark, New Jersey, and has completed a Master’s of Science in Philanthropy and Grant-making with a special emphasis in Global Affairs from New York University. She also holds a B.A. and Master's of Public Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Nonprofit Management Certification from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a promoter of national volunteer service having served as an AmeriCorps VISTA and Peace Corps. Additionally, she served as a lead officer of the Central Indiana Peace Corps Association. LaVera co-organized a week long collaboration to promote Peace Corps 50th Anniversary with the IUPUI. 

LaVera will be relocating next year to Washington, DC to further her career in federal government. She is currently open to Program Management/Officer opportunities.
