RPCV/W joins Columbia Heights-based Words Beats & Life (WBL) for their monthly Our Block community clean-up. We'll help with trash removal and spray painting, among other tasks.
Dress comfortably, bring lots of water, get ready to transform a neighborhood through service!
Here's some fun stuff to get you excited about the event:
- In addition to the usual volunteer duties of making WBL's block of Columbia Heights shine (picking up trash, spraying over graffiti, removing stickers) we will have the opportunity to be a part of WBL history as we construct a brand new practice wall for Graffiti students.
- Our host will be serving pizza at the end of the event.
- Also, to tie into the recent "Pokemon Go" craze they are adding a Pokemon theme to the event. A bonus will be provided to anybody who attends and plays the game. They'll be constantly adding lures to the St. Stephen's PokeStop after the cleanup. Get that Dragonite you always wanted and make D.C premier arts destination!
WBL Mission: We are unapologetic advocates for the transformative power of hip-hop culture in all its forms, empowering artists to relentlessly create and refine systems that demonstrate this notion of positive change through creativity. We embrace the sacred nature of our work and our roles as keepers and innovators of our culture.
