Sunny Widmann

Sunny leads the development and oversees management of several National Arts Strategies programs. She works with partners, funders and participants to design tools that help cultural leaders advance their work. Programs currently in Sunny’s portfolio include support services for cultural entrepreneurs, leadership development for CEOs and online learning initiatives. Sunny helped lead the design and implementation of NAS’s first ideation conference, the Summit at Sundance in 2013. 

Sunny joined the NAS team in 2009. Prior to that she served with the Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa as a Girls Education and Empowerment volunteer, where she planned a Take our Daughters to Work Week and started a women’s community group focused on literacy, health and micro-lending. She completed her undergraduate studies at Butler University and holds a graduate degree in Arts Management from American University. Her work has been published in the Journal of Arts Management, Law and Society. 

She has served as co-chair of the Steering Committee for Emerging Arts Leaders DC and as a grant panelist for the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County. 
Sunny enjoys hiking, checking out new plays and exploring the world with her husband Michael and dog Lucy.
