Endorsement: Maricarmen Smith-Martinez

The Group Leaders Forum (GLF) Coordinator is an elected position of the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA). It's not an easy job, but we think we've found the best person to do it.

In March, the Board of Directors nominated Maricarmen Smith-Martinez by unanimous vote. Maricarmen served in Costa Rica from 2006 to 2008. She recently relocated to DC from Atlanta to pursue a new career opportunity. She served on the Board of the Atlanta Area Returned Peace Corps Volunteers for 3 years and was elected President in 2011. She is also active with Friends of Costa Rica and joined RPCV/W in 2013.

It is our pleasure to endorse her as a candidate for the NPCA board as the Group Leaders Forum Coordinator. In seeking our endorsement, Maricarmen worked closely with the current GLFC Kate Schachter and NPCA board member Kristina Owens to prepare herself for the demands of the job. We believe that her background and affiliations with various RPCV associations makes her well-suited to take on the task of connecting the many leaders in the Peace Corps Community.
