IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE: 7/9/23 @ 9:30a
"Due to anticipated heavy rain and lighting, the Festival is moving indoors with limited programming on July 9. New schedule for events."
WE WILL STILL MEET AT THE SMITHSONIAN METRO EXIT AT 12:30p and walk over to the Arts and Industries Building.
The Free Smithsonian Folklife Festival will take place on the National Mall where musicians, artists, craftspeople, cooks, storytellers, and others demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and aesthetics that embody the creative vitality of community-based traditions. The Festival encourages visitors to participate; to learn, sing, dance, eat traditional foods, and converse with people presented in the Festival program.
We will meet at the Smithsonian Mall Metro Exit at 12:30p. Festival Map | Smithsonian Folklife Festival (si.edu)
We can start off the day by visiting the Mural on the Mall, learn a recipe from Brazil, watch a distilling demo, listen to the Ukrainian Villages Voices sing and try an Ozarks Beer or whatever else piques your interest. General Information | Smithsonian Folklife Festival (si.edu)
