DC/DOX 2023 | DC/DOX 2023 (eventive.org)
DC/DOX is a new documentary film festival showcasing powerful, timely stories in our nation’s capital. DC/DOX brings together innovative visions, bold voices, and truth seekers in celebration of documentary cinema.
We will be attending 2 films back to back at Eaton Cinema, 1201 K Street NW, Washington, DC 20005 on June 16th @ 3pm and 5:30pm. Join us for one or both!
"20 Days in Mariupol" ($15): Fri, Jun 16th, 3:00 PM @ Eaton Cinema, 94 minutes
An AP team of Ukrainian journalists trapped in the besieged city of Mariupol struggle to continue their work documenting atrocities of the Russian invasion. As the only international reporters who remain in the city, they capture what later become defining images of the war. With nearly a decade of experience covering international conflicts for The Associated Press, 20 Days in Mariupol is Mstyslav Chernov’s first feature film. The film draws on Chernov’s daily news dispatches and personal footage of his own country at war. It offers a vivid, harrowing account of civilians caught in the siege, as well as a window into what it’s like to report from a conflict zone, and the impact of such journalism around the globe.
"DC/FRAME Lost & Found" (FREE): Friday, June 16, 2023 5:30 PM EDT. Bring Them Home: 32 min; Park Regent: 22 min; Finding Us: 13 min
Three short films that explore the profound impact of losing one's home and the journey to find one’s way back. This program introduces individuals and communities grappling with the loss of home, whether it be through the harrowing experience a family fighting for the return of a beloved father and husband who has been taken hostage, the new discovery of shared ancestry among enslaved people, or the impacts of gentrification on a building and neighborhood.RSVP Add to Calendar 06/16/2023 15:00:00 06/16/2023 19:00:00 America/New_York DC/DOX: 2023 DC Documentary Film Festival Check https://www.rpcvw.org/dc_dox_2023_dc_documentary_film_festival for the latest info. 1201 K St NW, Washington,, DC 20005, United States Pattie Walsh [email protected] share

Let's volunteer with Anacostia Green Boats at Heritage + Kingman Islands in SE DC. We will pickup trash while kayaking. We volunteered here September, 2022 and the organizer said we were the hardest working group they've ever seen. Let's do better this year! We will meet here at 9am.
How to Arrive:
1) You can park in the RFK Parking lot next to the entrance to the Kingman And Heritage Islands Park and walking into the park and over the bridge to the meeting spot.
2.) You can bike here. Kingman And Heritage Islands Park is adjacent to the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail.
3.) The entrance is a 20 minute walk from the Stadium-Armory Metro Station.
We will be broken into two groups. One group will be in kayaks picking up trash with pickers and one group will be on land picking up trash and then we will switch. There are boats for 13 people so hoping we get 26 volunteers. Afterwards we will categorize and weigh the materials we have collected. This is a really fun activity and a great organization to support. Hope to see you there.
